GRADUATE PROGRAMME

Each year, The Metropolitan London is looking for two graduates with a nationally recognised qualification in further education to join its Graduate Program.

The Graduate Program is a two-year tailored development program that encompasses all aspects of hotel operations in supervisory level. Graduates will gain in-depth knowledge and experience in Food and Beverage Department, Accounting, Sales & Marketing, Rooms Division and also a rare opportunity to spend time in Nahm Restaurant at The Halkin, our sister property. Nahm Restaurant is the first Michelin starred Thai restaurant in the world run by the celebrated Chef David Thompson.

Structured training sessions such as COMO branding, Communication Skills for Leaders, and Interview and Selection Techniques are also incorporated to the programme. Mentors within each department will be part of the senior management who will oversee graduates' progress. Graduates will also get a hands-on support from a 'buddy' within the departments.

Like all  of COMO Hotels and Resorts properties, The Metropolitan London believes in passion, style and creativity

If you think you have what it takes to join this prestigious company or would like to have more information, you can find our contact details at the bottom of this page.

What Metropolitan London past Graduate says about the programme:

"In January 2007 I started my graduate training programme at The Metropolitan. It is a two-year tailor made programme, which contains all the aspects of a 5* hotel.

My experience is that the programme is very flexible, and there is a lot of personal attention for the trainee. The training schedule for each department is made by the applicable Head of Department, who is the coach during the time in that department. After getting the necessary operational knowledge, the training will focus on an understanding of the management level.

The programme is designed in a specific order, resulting in a very efficient way of training. For example, within Rooms Division you will work from the Back to the Front of House. This will give you the opportunity to benefit from the background knowledge you have gained throughout the different departments.  During each department you receive weekly debriefs; during these you will give and receive feedback on your and the hotel's performance. Various times you will get the opportunity to execute projects, which is especially interesting as you can put your knowledge from your course into practice.

On a regular basis you have meetings with the Training Manager, who overlooks the programme. During these meeting you focus on maximizing the effect of the programme. For this reason, the programme is flexible and open for discussion. The flexibility is of this kind that when you feel that you need more training in a certain department, this can be easily arranged. Together with the Training Manager you also discuss your preferred department, which takes place at the end of each year. Your preferred department gives you the chance to intensify your training in a certain department.

The Metropolitan is part of a relatively small hotel chain (eight properties in total). That gives COMO Hotels and Resorts the ability to offer such a unique programme, with major flexibility, personal attention and an extensive training."
